Come September 3, Virgin 1 will be rebranded and will carry a new name called Channel One. This initiative is undertaken on count of Sky’s buyout of Virgin Media’s TV portfolio of channels. The Virgin Media TV is now known as Living TV Group.
As mentioned by Jonathan MD, Webb Living TV Group, Channel One will be airing the same programmes and schedules as per the Virgin 1. Practically nothing will change over the channel except that better and much more interesting programmes will be introduced to attract more viewers.
Most preferred programmes include Warehouse 13, Deadliest Warrior and Chuck will still be aired while as a bonus the free to air premiere of US sci-fi series V will mark the launch of the channel.
As per its earlier broadcast slots, Channel One will be available on Virgin Media channel 119, Freeview channel 20 and Sky channel 121
Through this £160m deal, Virgin Media channels viz. Bravo, Living, Challenge and Virgin 1 were handed over to Sky. Sky agreed upon purchase of the channels but not the Virgin logo, hence it became imperative to rebrand the channel for attracting viewers.
By clicking this deal, Virgin is now able to offer its viewers all Sky branded channels including Sky HD channels and the red button interactive extras while providing their shows through Sky’s on demand services.
